It promised to be a beautiful day…. I got to start at Anita’s parents’ house and was able to capture her preparations that way. In a relaxed manner, she started her day and not much later she was ready for the pick-up moment. The wedding day at Residence Rhenen was about to begin….
What she was not entirely sure about, but might have hoped for, was that musicians had been arranged for the pick-up moment. She and her soon-to-be Isa have Macedonian roots and so it was a nice idea to reflect cultural elements, such as this dancing to music.
Isa unfortunately did have to hand over his car keys, … but then he got to pick up his beautiful bride from his in-laws ; )
Photo shoot in Doorn and Prattenburg
After much more dancing and waving, we drove to the photo shoot location Isa and Anita had chosen two different locations: first, the Kaapse Bossen in Doorn, because this is where their first date took place.
During that first date, it turned out to be raining. Isa had fortunately brought two (!) umbrellas, so his date could also walk along dry. Those umbrellas came back in the styling later in the day. But this is the place where the first date took place a few years back and so now the wedding shoot!
Custom Veil
Anita, completely by surprise, had a beautiful veil made. She designed it with a Macedonian designer and the veil contains not only poppies, the national symbol of Macedonia, but also the text “te dua dashuri” and “te sakam srce” (in Albanian and Macedonian). In fact, one father was born on the Albanian side of Macedonia and the other father was born on the Macedonian side. The text “I love you dear” is very appropriate!
Weddings at Residence Rhenen
The wedding ceremony took place at Residence Rhenen. Before the bride and groom walked in, the family had arranged for a real flowerboy as a surprise! This immediately made the atmosphere a little less fraught, although of course it was still a wonderfully emotional ceremony.
Their wedding officiant, Con, made it a beautiful ceremony with many different elements. Fun to see and truly recommended. He had also memorized all the guests’ names.
It was a wonderful day at Residence Rhenen. I photographed the first part of the party, because after that a colleague was going to capture the evening. In fact, another traditional dance performance was coming! And I enjoyed being at this wedding venue again.
