An American-Dutch wedding
When an American (living in the Netherlands) and a Dutchman get married at Landgoed te Werve, you can expect all kinds of things; a beautiful wedding, maybe Dutch games, lots of flowers, rehearsal dinners, first dance with Dad, that kind of thing. Anyway, we wondered what Andrea and Peter would do for their day. It ended up being a fairy-tale wedding, complete with three little men in suits.
We started the morning wonderfully relaxed. Andrea was already made beautiful(er), her mother and sisters were present and here and there we saw her father walking around as well. Meanwhile, Peter was also at Landgoed te Werve and was busy with his preparations.
There was still some improvising to do, however, because where was the ceremony going to take place? A very urgent question because we were going to get about 38 degrees that day…. sun is nice, but too much sun….
Peter made sure the boys were dressed. Later he began his own preparations, but here, at least, you can already see him helping his sons. This seems like such a nice feeling: that you can experience your wedding day with your own children.
Of course, the boys also came to see their mother in between. Did everything go well? Did she sit there relaxed?
Above, the final touch-up and the bride and groom are ready for their first-look! We are now a few months on and that heat is not immediately reflected in the photos. So nice that they got a lot done outside! The first look on the lawn at Landgoed te Werve and then the first photo shoot under the trees.
We also took a few pictures inside. Then Peter and Andrea went out of sight so their guests would have an extra big surprise, at the approach moment.
Wedding ceremony under the trees of Landgoed te Werve
How beautiful it looked! Wedding planner Vivian from The Bridesmaid had gathered the cutest vendors and conjured up this beautiful wedding ceremony spot, under the trees. A place where you were full of light, but had shadow at the same time. And you could see the stately building of Landgoed te Werve!
The romance just splashes off, doesn’t it!
During the ceremony, the party was able to enjoy live harp music. In addition, a violinist played along; this too added to the romantic atmosphere of the moment.
The reception took place on the terrace of Landgoed te Werve. The staff had set up lots of umbrellas and here people could enjoy cake, delicious drinks and snacks in between. Some guests joined us for this moment and later these people also went home. A fine time to have a large company there anyway.
One of the boys was completely exhausted. So taking a nap upstairs in the attic, in an air-conditioned room. After that, he had enough energy again for the rest of the afternoon.

Photoshoot at Landgoed te Werve
Just before we sat down to dinner, there was time for a short photo shoot. When it is a really hot summer day, you can do well to divide the photo shoot into small pieces. So we started taking pictures around noon for twenty minutes (so you have some in advance) and since there was some time left, we were able to take pictures in the early evening as well.
Andrea had a lot planned out (together with Peter), for the dinner, but when it turned out that it was even more beautiful than she had hoped, she freaked out…. What a compliment also for Vivian!
Evening shoot at sunset
Also in the evening, just before the party started, we had a mini evening shoot. The nice thing about this moment is that the pressure is kind of off, with wedding couples. So this is really one of those moments where you can enjoy together. Of each other, of the weather, of the time, the memories you’ve already made now, and of the shoot, that is.
The first dance, of course, was for Peter, but not soon after, Andrea’s father followed. Everyone crying of course, because so special!
And not much later, the party really broke loose. All guests on the dance floor, bouquet tossing (and catching), a fine DJ and also the videographer’s Same-day edit.
We ended the evening with a few additional romantic images. A wonderful ending to a wonderful day!
Part of Andrea & Peter’s review
“On the day of our wedding itself, they were also great (…), it was a wonderful, relaxing photo shoot. So there were insanely beautiful, loving photos filled with emotion and we are forever grateful to them for this amazing day and beautiful, special memories!” (read the rest especially in our Google Reviews).
