It is always fun to discover a new wedding venue when you are a wedding photographer. Because sometimes I have the idea that we know all the beautiful wedding venues in the Netherlands, but the opposite is true! Not long ago we got to capture a romantic and festival-like wedding at Hoeve Kindergoed in Ermelo. This rural and picturesque wedding venue provided a wonderfully relaxed atmosphere, perfect for this intimate wedding of Marije and Martijn.
We had been looking extra forward to this wedding day. In fact, Ramon knows Marije from elementary school days, when his sister was friends with Marije. And so it was extra fun to be able to photograph this wedding day!
Preparation and First Look: Bed & Wellness Groenrust
The day started early at Bed & Welness Groenrust in Ermelo, where Marije and Martijn went to prepare. Their parents also came to this location not long after. While Marije was in makeup and hairstylist, Martijn was enjoying himself in the shade. We photographed all the little moments during the morning and before we knew it, it was time for the dressing up moment.
Then, of course, it was time for the first look. This time not only between bride and groom, but also between the bride and groom and their fathers (the mothers helped with the dressing). And after this, of course, the first look itself.
Photoshoot on the Heath: Leuvenumse Bossen
After a short lunch, we left for the photo shoot location. By agreement, we had chosen the Leuvenum Heath, or at least the woods surrounding this area. We already knew this location and it is an area where you can take many different pictures. Forest, open field, beautiful trails, totally great for a photo shoot.
After the photo shoot, we drove ahead to Hoeve Kindergoed. The guests were already welcomed with coffee, tea and a tasty snack and they could also set up their tents in advance. The bride and groom themselves also went to sleep in a tent, in a field adjacent to the venue.
The wedding planner asked that all guests walk to the front of Hoeve Kindergoed so they could welcome the bride and groom. In fact, they arrived in the Toyota Starlet that used to belong to Marije’s grandmother. So a wonderful tribute.
Intimate wedding ceremony in the Wedding Grove
The wedding ceremony took place in the idyllic Trouwbosje at Hoeve Kindergoed. There were some beautiful bouquets of summer flowers and rugs on the floor. What a wonderful place to get married in the woods!
Marije was given away by her father. And although this could also be a very emotional moment, her father joked precisely that he changed his mind and walked away again with the bride. This immediately made this moment a lot more egg-like and lighthearted. So was the fine Hardcore stunner that Martijn came running up with, by the way.
After the ceremony, guests toasted and enjoyed a delicious slice of wedding cake. Not much later, the venue brought a large bicycle trailer on which all the appetizers you can think of were ready. The bride and groom were able to start drinking right away, complete with fine specialty beers and lemonades. A band played live music, guests could sit at picnic tables to play card games.
Drinks and BBQ: Fun food at Hoeve Kindergoed
The sun was slowly sinking into the sky and everyone was able to enjoy a fine barbecue on the grounds of Hoeve Kindergoed. The owner and proprietress are very involved in weddings and so we had a chat with them as well. They have 30 overnight spots here AND you can camp there as well. In any case, I thought it was a gem in the Veluwe. Especially since it is also so especially close to Elburg for us!
After dinner, the guests had not only had a fine barbecue but also a delicious ice cream, the party would actually begin. But it was so summery in terms of weather that it was decided to wait a little longer to start the party. Bride and groom took this moment to enjoy the other games that could be done. Think Jeu des Boules, shuffleboard and Foosball.
We also did a short photo shoot at sunset. During the golden hour, we were able to take some photos near the Hoeve. Such a moment need only last ten minutes, but can really be a moment of rest.
Party night and Dance at Hoeve Kindergoed: a fine conclusion
We made another little impression of the party night. The bride and groom entered and although it looked like they were going to shuffle, after just a few seconds the DJ played I’ve Gotta Feeling. After this, the party could begin immediately :)
