Just under two years ago, we sat at the table at the wedding dinner of Jan and Bernice who were getting married at The Havixhorst. I sat on one side, Ramon on the other, with Kelly and Tom. A fun conversation ensued and what turned out to be: they were looking for another wedding photographer for their wedding at Beachclub No. 5.
Getting married on the beach of Zandvoort
So we are now many months down the road, but so finally Ramon and I got to capture their wedding day. They married in April, early April to be exact. You don’t very quickly think of a wedding on the beach, but Kelly and Tom envisioned it all along. In fact, Kelly had a friend with a beach club. And they love visiting the Zandvoort area immensely. Add 1 and 1 together and you have a beachfront wedding. At the delightful Beachclub No. 5 in Zandvoort.
What no one knew in advance was that this day would be so beautiful in terms of weather! Not only was the entire wedding ceremony able to take place on the beach, but the children were able to play outside.
A very personal wedding day
A wedding day where you know all the names by the end of the day. Where people cry in each other’s arms, where there are all the little surprises, where the cake is delicious and the dinner maybe even better. Where the little ones run around and the papas and mamas enjoy themselves. And where there is time to talk to each other. Also, here and there we could even chat with them for a while. What a wonderful day.
A day full of highlights
My personal highlight of the day? Well actually not necessarily 1 moment. It was more becoming part of the guests. That little Veerle really wanted me to lift her up after the photo shoot to walk back toward the car. And that moment with the niece who was eager to have her picture taken a la Ariana Grande. Or that couple who snuggled up to each other to enjoy the atmosphere. Or that polonaise that arose during the party. Moments like that are what make photographing weddings so unique. This was the perfect wedding to start the season.
Kelly had lovely All-Stars on during her wedding day. Not only nice to walk on, but also convenient to put on afterwards. Those shoes that are cool and useful.
Sweet little Veerle got to bring the rings, along with Grandpa. The rings were placed in a beautiful box. Here you see that box.
Beautiful blue skies over Zandvoort.
Well, you can’t let your daughter escape during the ceremony of course ; )
Veerle got to put her handprint during the ceremony, but it didn’t quite go as planned.
How valuable are all those embraces? That moment when all the emotion comes out. So grateful that we get to experience and record this.
We don’t often show “behind the scenes,” in a blog post, but Veerle was so sweet and happy. And so curious too…. so a little moment where she got to push all the buttons on my camera.
One of those moments, . the moment when Veerle leaves the party. Mom gives her another kiss and hug and Veerle waves goodbye. Kelly mentioned that it is very goofy to “stay” yourself while your child leaves. Very different from taking your child somewhere yourself and then leaving by yourself. But Veerle was in good hands thankfully.
An ice cream for dessert and then a quick mini shoot on the beach.
