This marriage? It took a while before it was finally allowed to happen. Because Carmen and Kate decided a few years back to have their wedding at slot Doddendael in Ewijk. A global epidemic passed, then more challenges with their American Green Card, but finally it worked out: They said Yes!
Preparations at Slot Doddendael
Kate did her preparations at Slot Doddendael, the venue they had in mind for their wedding in the Netherlands (they were also married in America in the meantime). Meanwhile, Carmen was at the nearby B&B making her own preparations. Ramon was able to capture the preparations with both brides as they were close to each other.
Time for the first look
The first look took place on the bridge at Slot Doddendael. What a wonderfully romantic place this is! It is a medieval castle with a beautiful vineyard, ancient walls and magnificent trees. So the perfect place also for the photo shoot. And what a fantastic bouquet too….

Getting married in ‘t Spijcker
Then the wedding ceremony began. Since rain was predicted anyway this day and the chance of rain during the ceremony was just too great, Kate and Carmen decided to get married inside. Their ceremony took place in ‘t Spijkcker, a beautiful bright space that was beautifully decorated.
Having drinks outdoors
Then it was time for the wedding cake. Or rather, the wedding cakes! It is American custom to have a second cake that (in some cases the Groom (Groom’s Cake), but here one of the brides) gets to pick. A fabulous plunge cake was chosen, in addition to their romantic wedding cake. I didn’t know this usage yet, super cute!
Getting married in the summer
Since these brides decided to get married in the summer, in July to be exact, there was, of course, the chance of some parts outside. So although the ceremony took place inside, another part of the day could take place outside.
So it eventually turned out that they could have drinks outside as well as dinner outside. And the latter, we notice, actually happens very little, because it is often too hot or just too cold.

During dinner, many wonderful moments again took place. Speeches where personal words were spoken, people interacting, a kiss here and there. But of course, Ramon also took pictures of the food and the burgundy atmosphere itself.
After dinner, there was time for a mini evening shoot. We often suggest it and often brides and grooms put it in their playbook, but it is always a matter of waiting to see if there is time for this moment. It could also be that the sun has already disappeared behind some clouds or that the couple just doesn’t have the stomach for it anymore. But Kate and Carmen got lucky and enjoyed having their picture taken for a few more minutes, now as a married couple!
Dance party at Slot Doddendael
During the evening, the feet went off the floor. Kate, meanwhile, had put on another dress that was just a little more convenient in connection with dancing. And the atmosphere was right on. Wonderful to see!
