Maybe you have just decided to get married in 2024 and want to choose a wedding date. Maybe you’ve been asked or you’ve asked your soon-to-be. But one thing is certain: 2024 will be your wedding year! We’d like to give you a few tips on the things to consider.
A lot of weddings
If there is one thing we know for sure is that getting married in 2024 will be very popular. And all still by Corona, you can also read on the site of Omroep Brabant. Couples who initially wanted to get married in 2022 often opted for 2023 or 2024, for example.
And voila: a lot of weddings.
Start planning in time if you want to get married in 2024
So start planning in time, because many dates are already taken. Especially when you want to get married at a popular wedding venue such as Wijenburg Castle or Rhederoord Estate. Do you want the most options? Then go for a weekday in early spring or winter and get advice from the wedding venue you have your eye on.
How long will it take to plan your wedding in 2024?
How long it takes to plan a wedding depends on the complexity and size of your wedding. We recommend that you actually take 12 to 18 months to plan your day. But a last-minute wedding is also possible, of course.
Just keep in mind that many popular wedding venues and vendors may already be fully booked. So send them an e-mail right away and check their availability. If necessary, you can ask friends and family for help or consider using a wedding planner. The sooner you start, the more likely you will be able to enjoy your wonderful wedding day stress-free.
Many wedding brands indicate that you should order a wedding dress 12 to 6 months before your wedding day. The groom’s clothing can also take up a lot of time. So keep in mind to arrange this on time.
The first 5 things to take care of before your wedding
Once you and your fiancé have determined your budget and wedding date, it is important to immediately start looking for the next three vendors. These three often leave a big mark on your wedding day and are often booked first by other couples.
Arrange your wedding venue
The wedding venue is booked first by many couples and is often a bottleneck when you get married in 2024. When your dream location is already booked, you can engage in conversation to see what is possible. Book this date or dates (if you can) and try to arrange the next two wedding vendors within 14 days as well. See a list of our favorite 50 wedding venues here.
Find a wedding officiant
Without a wedding officiant no ceremony and therefore no wedding day. Want a very personal wedding ceremony that revolves 100% around you and your guests? Then consider hiring an independent wedding officiant.
Book a wedding photographer, wedding band, wedding videographer or caterer
And who you arrange after that depends a bit on your wishes. As wedding photographers ourselves, we are often captured as one of the first three vendors. But sometimes couples find another vendor even more important. Think about the band for the evening or a videographer you experienced at another wedding or a favorite caterer who should be there. See immediately if these people are still available.
Wedding date found?
Everyone on the same page? Preferably, get everyone involved right away, so that the broad outlines of your wedding day are already established. The rest can all be done later. Many wedding vendors know other great addresses and they are happy to help you with their top tips. And if you still can’t manage to find a wedding date, read the information below.
Get married in January, February or March
If you choose spring 2024, you’re probably in luck. Most couples choose wedding months like May, June and September (see also NOS). That’s probably why there are more choices for those early spring wedding days. But start choosing your wedding date on time.
Choosing beautiful wedding date in 2024
However, it is helpful to consider “nice wedding dates in 2024”; those dates that are easier to remember. Are you having a winter wedding in January, February or March? For example, consider Friday 02-02-2024 or Thursday 22-02-24 and Saturday 24-02-2024.
And don’t forget spring break, because that’s when many people, and therefore maybe wedding guests, are on vacation. Even better idea: choose a wedding date because it suits you, not because it’s easy to remember. The date is often in the wedding ring anyway ;)

Getting married in April, May or June 2024
Would you like to go for a spring wedding? With blossoms, more chance of sunny weather and maybe even an outdoor wedding? Then you quickly end up in April, May and June. Please note that this is the most popular wedding period of the year and so many wedding venues will already be booked.
In terms of popular dates, you are less likely to succeed at Friday 24-05-2024. Again, Fridays and Saturdays are more popular than any other weekday.
Also take into account Ascension, Easter and Whitsun. For example, you could choose Wednesday 08-05-2024 to have a weekday where most people have the next day off. Or choose the Easter weekend around 28-03-2024, so your party will have a long weekend off afterwards.
Tip: If a monday, tuesday or wednesday wedding is okay for you, then definitely choose a weekday. Check out the blog post for 5 more reasons.
Getting married in July or August 2024
Well, do you want a summer wedding in 2024? You certainly can. What you have to consider then, of course, are again those more popular dates, such as Saturday, Aug. 24, 2024.
Getting married during summer vacation
But on the other hand, we also advise you to take the summer holidays into account. In this year, the vacation will fall somewhere between July 16 and September 1, depending on which region you get married in. There will also be another European Championship, this time in Germany. Want to make sure there’s no soccer during your wedding? If so, avoid the period between June 14 and July 14.
Advantages of a summer wedding
The advantage of getting married during the summer holidays is that you have more choice, but the disadvantage is that there is a chance that some of your guests are on holiday. So if you want to get married in the middle of summer, let your most important guests know in time via a save-the-date.
Tip: Are you getting married outdoors in 2024 and want to read more about it? We also wrote a blog post about that.
Getting married in 2024: the fall
When I look at the weddings we had in 2022 and will be photographing in 2023, I notice that November and December are more popular than ever before. Normally we might have had one wedding at most, but now this period is as popular as the months of March and April!
Tip: Keep an extra eye out for Saturday, Nov. 23 and 30. Often the last weekends before December are especially popular for getting married.
As fall approaches, keep in mind all those fully booked venues. However, you are much more likely to be successful in finding a wedding date and venue in these months.
Getting married in the winter of 2024-2025
Do you already know you want to get married in 2024 and winter is totally fine? I would then definitely consider, say, early spring 2024 (if you don’t want to wait too long) or late fall. For example, consider a November wedding or a Christmas wedding.
Or… if you want to do something totally “different” you can opt for a January wedding. We have currently had the opportunity to photograph about 500 weddings, and in that time we have experienced maybe two or three weddings in January.
You just know the weather is going to be bad anyway so you can make it cozy inside.
Ready to plan your dream wedding in 2024?
Now that you’ve read all these handy tips, it’s time to get started. Take your time. We often find that couples both move and get married in the same year, which can be stressful. Make choices that suit you as a wedding couple and enjoy all these beautiful moments.
