A unique British wedding in the Netherlands
Their day was a bit different than other weddings we’ve seen. Partly because they are both Brittish and partly because they had very special ideas about the day. They started at their home and at the Hoxton hotel, a lovely “vintage” hotel with great styling. Emily’s hotel room was filled with make-up, water bottles, bridesmaids dresses and shoes. And a tiny box of macaroons. Half empty before we knew it.
Dutch weather
In Holland it is quite normal to see each other before the ceremony, but Emily and Matt decided to keep it traditional. They both travelled by boat to the wedding venue and they saw each other while walking down the isle. So romantic! The ceremony took place in a very nice marquee. All the guests sat snugly together and the ceremony started.
The entire day was arranged by wedding planners Roderick and Martin, owners of Belmont Events. We really enjoyed working with them. It’s always lovely to meet new wedding professionals, especially when they are so professional and nice at the same time.
The best party ever
We really loved capturing this day in photographs. This day was so international! British people know how to party. They enjoy good food, gin tonics, cheese platters and love their pudding. Emily and Matt wanted a light up disco dance floor and so everyone started to dance as soon as the music started. We saw soul train dance offs, a huge disco ball, Dutch Bitterballen, champagne, and loads of happy guests. We cannot wait to shoot our next Brittish wedding (in the Netherlands or maybe even abroad).
